Day 1: Rome, Italy
Meet your Trip Leader and step back to 753 BC in one of the world's oldest open-air museums on a walking tour. Make like Caesar and work up a colossus hunger as you pass by the Pantheon, throw your two cents in the Trevi Fountain, sit on the Spanish Steps and visit ancient history's version of the Hunger Games set at the Colosseum.
Walking tour of Rome
Day 2: Rome including Vatican City visit
Count your blessings on an optional tour of the Vatican City to see how Michelangelo messed around and created the High Renaissance, then play eye spy with two-and-a-half millennia worth of history. Shop 'til you drop on Via Condotti, head to Capitoline Hill for awesome views of the Roman Forum and Colosseum or just kick back in Piazza Navona.
Guided tour of Vatican City
Day 3: Rome to Sorrento
Kick off your day with a pit stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and ancient city Pompeii, which was abruptly buried one evening in 79AD when nearby Vesuvius erupted all over the place. After an optional guided tour and a chance to grab a bite to eat, we're off to coastal Sorrento for an afternoon arrival. Get your bearings then feast at a local restaurant and soak up the atmosphere.
Guided tour of historical Pompeii
Day 4: Sorrento
Take an optional trip to the Isle of Capri to see the famous Blue Grotto or set off on your own down the Amalfi coast to Positano by local bus. Either way, your jaw will be aching from all those #nofilter sights. Tonight: follow the sound of live music and carb up at a local joint of your choosing.
Day trip to Isle of Capri
Day 5: Sorrento to Assisi
Down that espresso, we're off to Assisi. Stare at the storybook landscape like a lovesick puppy on the way to the birthplace of Franciscan friars. See the frescoes at St Francis Basilica with a local guide before splitting off to explore the 14th century streets on your own.
Walking tour of Assisi with local guide
Day 6: Assisi to Florence
Shoot some espresso before milling around the medieval city of Siena. A local guide will show you around the epic Renaissance sights before you get to explore. Psst...we'll need you to cover up as we're entering a sacred site. Next up: a local Chianti wine tasting and al fresco dinner in the Tuscan countryside. Tonight, we take Florence by storm.
Walking tour of Siena with local guide

Day 7: Florence
Florence has more stories than Bilbo Baggins, more culture than a Shoreditch hipster, over 1,800 restaurants and it gave the world gelato. Get schooled on the Medici family, stroll the Ponte Vecchio (the only bridge not bombed in WWII) and get an in-depth tour of the city with a local guide. Then: use the afternoon to meet a guy named David doing his best Blue Steel in the Accademia Gallery. You could do worse than hunting down a Florentine steak for dinner tonight.
Walking tour of Florence with local guide
Day 8: Florence to Cinque Terre
Start off with a tour of walled-in town Lucca, then on to Pisa for #thattower to get #thatshot (we won't judge). Final destination: The stunning Cinque Terre for another feast at a local restaurant.
Visit Pisa & the famous Leaning Tower
Walking tour of Lucca with local guide
Day 9: Cinque Terre
The five cliff-side villages of Cinque Terre didn't end up on the World Heritage list for nothing. Each mini-town has a vibe of its own. Completely void of corporate development and full of old town quirks, this is a place where la dolce vita is not so much encouraged as enforced. And it comes with a world-class glass of red.
Visit the picturesque villages of the Cinque Terre
Day 10: Cinque Terre to Venice
Cruise Lake Garda, the largest in Italy, then roll on to Verona, where that Romeo kid struggled for young Juliet's attention. A walking tour wilt give you thine bearings so you can make the most of thine free time. Tonight: a city on water and a local Venetian meal.
Walking tour of Verona
Visit Lake Garda
Day 11: Venice
100+ slowly sinking islands won't explore themselves. Get your bearings on this morning's walking tour, then get hopelessly lost. Your GPS won't save you here. Soak up St Mark's Square before a quintessential gondola ride on the Grand Canal. Corny smooching not included. This afternoon, snoop the Doge's Palace, cross Rialto Bridge and shop for Carnevale masks.
Walking tour of Venice
Gondola ride in Venice
Day 12: Venice to Rome
Southward and downward with a pit stop at the hilltop town of Orvieto to see the grand cathedral and dig into a wild boar panini - a local delicacy. Next: Rome, where all paths must end. End your day in true Italian fashion: in a carb induced coma at a local trattoria.
Day 13: Rome
Make it an espresso doppio this morning - you're on your own from here. Rome wasn't built in a day so why not spend a few more and get to know this ancient powerhouse a little better?
