Hotel Pulitzer Amsterdam

Address:
Prinsengracht 323, 1016 GZ
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Recently renovated, Hotel Pulitzer is a gem of a property in central Amsterdam. Actually a collation of converted and connected canal houses, Pulitzer Amsterdam is located right on the edge of “de Negen Straatjes”, Amsterdam’s premier shopping and strolling district.
The décor is modern, clean and comfortable but unmistakably Dutch, making you feel at the same time at home and immersed in Amsterdam culture.
Understated Dutch service is a hallmark here, it seems to disappear when you want privacy and reappear when you need assistance. Staying in a Canal View room is an excellent upgrade to the standard offering, increasing the size of the room as well as a fantastic, just higher than street level view of Amsterdam outside your window. If you’re in the mood for a special splurge, go for one of the Collector’s Suites, with your own street level door on the canal to really feel like a local. The suites have themes from Antique to Music and they will feel like your own little pied-a-terre.
The café, Jansz., has an excellent breakfast but the treat here is the to grab a table outside, on the canal side of the street, pop open some champagne and just watch the world go by under the shade of the trees arching over the canal. There are few better ways to spend your afternoon.
Whether for leisure or if business takes you to Amsterdam, Pulitzer is an excellent choice to park your suitcase for a few nights in one of my favourite cities in the world.
Expert tip: If you’re travelling with your family or a special someone, inquire about chartering the hotel’s private canal boat for a sunset cruise. There is a special place on the canals where all the bridges over the water line up in a perfect sequence allowing you to see clear across 7 different canals. It’s not to be missed and at sunset it looks magical.
