To understand Matisse, we have come to wonder if the duration of the trip put together by Merit Travel group would be long enough! Being Canadian cousins but not native, we took the opportunity to discover the region of Nice and its surroundings with a fantastic group of 28 people having chosen the same trip. Absolutely amazing! What entertainment and choice for new and recurrent travellers.

Transportation
What are your preferences and your degree of adventure? Being located near a train station, having the main bus and tram lines just a few blocks away and being a 10-minute walk from the old town, it only remains to your imagination what you design for the day. Want to go for a little tour in Italy, nothing easier.
Museums and Concerts
Lack of time at home to enjoy these little pleasures? Curiosity of the moment to discover these arts? You will be delighted. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a private box for 9 euros at the Nice Opera. Yes, our group of 2018 laughed well in the rain before the doors open to enjoy this magical moment! No doubt for the enthusiasm of this activity as well as the performance of the orchestras in the church facing the port (free). Masterpieces! What more to say to have to make choices between the various museums to see the achievements of Matisse, Rodin, Picasso, Folon, Chagall and all these awesome masters.
Gastronomy
Nicoise salad, paella, Asian food, pizza, pastries and bakeries to fear for your diets, you will not get tired of renewing your appetite. With a very good breakfast when getting up, many go on an adventure for a restaurant at midday and bring supplies from the shopping centre back for a lighter supper in the room, this one including all the utilities of a small kitchen. The stalls of fishes, cold cuts, cheese, fruits and vegetables offer the imagination an endless spectacle.
The Hilltop and Seaside Villages
What a contrast for the eyes! The discovery of historical and natural jewels is endless when one takes the roads in stages called ‘corniches’. At the bottom, the Côte d’Azur offers majestic villages by the sea, which are easily accessible. Beaches, small restaurants, historic buildings with a signature hidden in a museum or church by recognized artists, the seashore is dreaming as always. What to say now of the finds of the high ‘corniches!’ Perched villages plunge us into history and we become artisans of the past to furrow these narrow streets. Pure magic; Eze, Gourdon, St-Paul de Vence, to name only those. Go down from these heights after a visit, it is possible for the body but our spirit remains in suspense like a star.
Accommodation
The choice of rooms (with kitchenettes) associated with this trip offers a range of possibilities for anyone. Whether this little nest is only a cozy space for the adventurers’ sunsets or a friendly room that can welcome friends to socialize or play cards at night, the accommodation is in the best location. Shopping centres, pharmacy, walk-in doctor’s office, all these services are nearby and the employees at the reception have very good advice.
